A comparison between Clynelish and Brora is indeed very interesting since their linked history makes the whiskies (especially the less peated ones) of these two distilleries probably as comparable in quality and taste as no others. Nevertheless we see differences in the demand on the secondary market. We will cover the details in a separate article. When looking for similar price patterns we need to keep in mind that the Brora distillery closed more than 20 years before our observation window (2006 to now) whereas Clynelish remains opened. Considering this, it will be interesting to see the price effect of silent distilleries.
